Have your weekends fizzled out? Do you find yourself overwhelmed with responsibilities or still plugging away on deadlines for your business? As an entrepreneur, you’re most likely struggling to maintain a work-life balance that makes you happy. You probably spend the weekends tackling last minute tasks. If this sounds familiar, then it is time to reclaim your weekend. A getaway could be just what you need to destress.
The stress can be detrimental for both you and the future of your business. You deserve a break. Your loved ones deserve having you around. Your happiness and health depend on it. Getting away for the weekend boosts mental health before, during and after your trip. Here are six ideas for quick, easy and awesome weekend getaways, courtesy of Travel Goals Club.
What better way to get away than to spend a long weekend in the great outdoors? Camping is an ideal weekend getaway. It’s an easy way to unplug and unwind. You can go with friends to relax and cut loose, or take the family camping in one of our nation’s 10,000 state parks or 58 national parks. If you visit a national park, however, just remember that your furry family members won’t be able to join you. You can get a good deal on a pet sitter or boarding by looking online for services.
Nearest Big City
We often don’t think of our neighboring cities as an exciting adventure, but maybe it’s time to think again. Look on a map and mark out any cities within a three-hour drive. Do some quick research to find a hotel or Airbnb and, if you like structure, create an itinerary. If you’re more spontaneous, just pack a bag and go.
If you live within driving distance of a port, a three-day cruise can be a quick and economical weekend getaway. Many of these cruises simply go out to sea and back, letting you enjoy the boat life and R&R including swimming, gambling, eating and sunbathing. If you do your research, you can easily find a ship that is all-inclusive.
Casinos are more than just slot machines and poker tables — they are an experience. Casino resorts are often a stone’s throw away physically, but miles away mentally. From fine dining restaurants to exclusive day spas, executive golf courses and family-friendly shows, casinos can turn a long weekend into a remarkable adventure.
Sometimes a new environment doesn’t rely on a new city. With the advent of Airbnb — and online services where people rent out their personal residences — you can escape the workweek and still stay in the same ZIP code. Rent a house with a swimming pool or jacuzzi, a huge, chef-approved kitchen, a home theater or any amenity your heart can imagine.
Take in a Show
Turn a show or a concert into a romantic date night by staying at a hotel near the venue. This can be especially fun if the performance is downtown or in a part of your city with a thrilling nightlife. Turn a night at the theater into a way to reconnect with your partner by checking into a hotel, eating an upscale dinner and relaxing poolside the next day. You can recover from a concert with your friends by sleeping in, getting a massage or exploring downtown during the day.
You don’t need more than a weekend to get away from it all. A weekend adventure can be just what it takes to recharge your mind, heart and body. Studies show that stress melts away when we take back our weekends. Do yourself a favor and explore one of these options this weekend.
